Ephesians 2: 10
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
As Christians, we have been saved not by good works but to good works. If we are yielded to the Holy Ghost, He is producing goodness, one component of the fruit of the Spirit in us. And this prompts us to do good, to help and assist others. What you may not realize is that God has already ordained the good works that He would have you do. Those people that you meet who have a need that you can respond to, have not just stumbled upon you. God sent them your way. God knew that there would be family members that you find yourself continually supporting and assisting, and He continues to supply the funds and resources that you need. These works were preordained for you, and rest assured that God provides for what He has called you to. Your wells will not run dry. The needs will not exceed your capacity to help.
If you are finding that the needs are more than you can meet, then it's time to explore whether these are works that God has ordained for you, or just things you feel obligated to do. Some of us think we must be all things to all men, and that's when we find ourselves overwhelmed or in over our heads. Sometimes it's okay to say NO. Seek God daily, and ask Him to show you the good works that He has ordained for you. He never puts more us than He created us to bear.
